May Focus Standards
Each month, I will post 2nd grade standards we are focusing on. Here are some curriculum standards we are focusing this month:
Religion: Sacraments/Worship - Students will understand reconciliation as forgiveness and healing and pray the Sign of the Cross, Glory Be, Our Father, Hail Mary and Act of Contrition. Morality/Social Justice- Students will describe sin as refusing to love God, self, or others and explain and understand that one’s actions have consequences. Language Arts: Students read and respond to a wide variety of significant works of children's literature. Reading.II.5 -Students will restate facts and details in the textto clarify and organize ideas. Writing.I.1 & 2 -Students will write and speak in complete coherent sentences and recognize and use correct order in written sentences.W.I.5 Students will understand the purposes ofvarious reference materials (e.g., dictionary,thesaurus, atlas). Social Studies: 2.3. Students explain the institutions and practices of governments in the United Statesand other countries, in terms of:2.3.1 the difference between making laws, carrying out laws, determining if laws have been violated and punishing wrongdoers.2.3.2 the ways in which groups and nations interact with one another and try to resolve problems (e.g., trade, cultural contacts, treaties, diplomacy, militaryforce) Science: Life Science: ST2.E Students will know that light, gravity, touch, or environmental stress can affect the germination, growth, and development of plants.ST2.F Students will know that flowers and fruits are associated with reproduction in plants. -Mrs. Bringas |
